Nov. 8th, 2001 01:44 pmWell, tonight I'm going to see about getting tickets to Toronto for Thanksgiving weekend. Giant arkple going on, and I'd like to be there and finally meet some of the Kibologists of the northeast.
Two nights ago, plane tickets were pretty affordable. But, now it's Thursday. The only reason I've waited this long is because I am not quite certain about sleeping arrangements.
And wardrobe. I'm from Phoenix, which is the opposite of Toronto. I'll need lots of jackets and sweaters and whatever else you cold people like to wear.

Date: 2001-11-08 02:15 pm (UTC)I'd go to the Tronna ARKPLE too, but I don't feel like driving 10 hours each way and/or paying Thanksgiving-season airfares.
Handy cold-place comfort tip: get a wool trenchcoat, like $70 or whatever. Wear it everywhere. Just wear normal clothes under it.

Date: 2001-11-08 07:40 pm (UTC)Amtrak costs as much as an airplane and takes as long as a Greyhound bus. No thanks.

It's definitely different in the southwest. To go from Phoenix to Los Angeles, I have to go through Flagstaff, which I'm pretty sure is east of here.

Date: 2001-11-08 09:55 pm (UTC)Trains are all expensive up here. $30 isn't even enough to get you a one-way reserved business class Amtrak ticket from Iselin, NJ to Newark, NJ -- a distance of about 15 miles.
It's insane, I tell ya.
