When I heard that there was a program that I could easily qualify for, where I could go to Japan and teach English for a year, I wanted to get on the next plane over there.

Why is it that things like that don't scare me, but dating does?

Because girls are harder to land than jobs. They require emotional vulnerability / openness and that whole "gonig out and meeting" thing as well as a resume.

But we talked about that last night.

BTW, i left cause conan was on and i was really tired. no reflection on you.

Aw, man! I have to write a résumé, too?

I need to buy a new suit anyway...

Because dating IS far harder and scarier than this kind of thing.

I've flown Kuwait Airlines to Europe, where I spent ten weeks alone, traipsing about with nothing but the clothes on my back. I've eaten haggis, rattlesnake, shark, and bear. I live in a sketchy neighborhood in a city of 8 million people.

I have not been on a date since July, have not been kissed in over a year, and have not been in a relationship since May 1999.

It's no wonder I'm asking you to run away to Seattle with me and start a band, instead of just going out for sushi or something.

Maybe dating would be less scary if it were more adventurous. So that if the romance doesn't work out, well, at least I've killed me a buffalo.

I've eaten shark before. In NUGGET FORM!

It was pretty typical white fish kind of stuff. The main allure seems to be getting to say "Now I'M taking a bite out of YOU!"

Nice how circular the food chain can be...

Yeah, but it gets awkward quickly despite how good it feels.

...wait, what were you talking about?

that's interesting. I'm the complete opposite way. Dating is so easy I have trouble not falling into it. Going to Japan... that's a long way off....

That said, two in-law-cousins of mine did that program and they liked it a lot.
