A few summers ago, I bought a little cloth neck cooler filled with gel pellets. You soaked it in water until the pellets swelled up and became soft, tied it around your neck, and it kept your neck cool.

1. What are those things called?
2. Where can I buy another one?
3. How do I clean it?

The one I have left over is filthy, and the stitching that keeps the gel in the center has worn out, so some of it keeps ending up at the ends.

these things? The Kewl Tie site says they "can be hand washed with a teeny bit of soap," which I presume means don't work it in too hard, and rinse extra well to make sure you get all the soap out of the gel.

As for the stitching, just get yourself some appropriately colored thread and a needle (and a loupe if necessary) and backstitch yourself silly! I always find backstitch the best replacement for machine stitching, not just because it has the same continuous appearance, but because it tends to pull itself evenly taut rather than slipping and bunching up like a running stitch.

Remember, of course, to slide all the gel pellets to the middle first.
