Mar. 10th, 2002

I left my jacket at the mall. Security doesn't have it, so I suppose someone else ran off with it.

In case I left my credit card in one of the pockets, I called it in lost, since I have a new card with a new number anyway, and I had yet to activate it. I cancelled it on my cell phone, and activated the card by using it in an ATM, and all that's cool.

I had a warm hat and gloves in the pocket, but the gloves had holes in them anyway.

But I remember there being a folded-up piece of paper in one of the pockets, and I forget what it was. Was it a copy of my travel itinerary with my reservation number on it? Was it something else I needed?

Well, my credit card is safe, and what are the chances J. Random Slacker would know how or dare to use a copy of my reservation to my disadvantage in these days of heightened security.

My sunglasses weren't in there; a pair of reading glasses were but they barely help anyway. And I have another jacket anyway, even if it's older.

"Wherever You Will Go" is the "Who Let The Dogs Out" of 2002. Aside from the zillions of places I've heard it on UPN, I also heard it in the promo for the series premier of "American Embassy". Shit.

10 days. eek.

Tomorrow it'll be a single-digit number.

And, to tell the truth, since tomorrow's the 11th, and the press is awash with talk of how our government is gearing up for nuclear war, I'm a bit nervous about what I'll find on CNN tomorrow morning.

  • London: Mar 21-Mar 24: Hang out with London Kibologists, see touristy things, and so forth, and speak English with impugnity. Get my travel skills up to snuff.
  • France: Mar 24-Mar 30: I haven't decided how to divide time between Paris and non-Paris. Perhaps I'll spend a little time in Alsace before heading to...
  • Brussels, Belgium: Mar 31-Apr 2: Yes, this trip is certainly taking a turn for the urban. This city will hopefully augment my French-speaking portion of the trip outside of tourist-jaded Paris. And maybe I'll have a day trip in there somewhere.
  • Luxembourg: Apr 3: I might stretch this into an extra day, or I might make this a day trip so as to save a railpass day. Would be a shame, as I do have a friend here, and free pizza, and I can't miss a tour of the Maginot Line.
  • Netherlands: Apr 4-Apr 7: Yes, I'm going to Amsterdam. I'll see about a day trip to the countryside here too. No luck finding out whether family research would do any good here.
  • Germany: Apr 8-Apr 13: Just Germany. Hamburg first, and the only thing I know I can't miss there is St. Catherine's Cathedral, where there is some family history. Then Berlin. Again, I'll aim for some day trips, and try the beer.
  • Prague: Apr 13-Apr 15: I'm wondering if I should allocate more days to this city, considering how cheap it is, especially compared with Germany. And I hear it's easier to find Esperantists there than in any of the preceding countries.
  • Frankfurt: Apr 16-Apr 17: They say there's nothing to do in Frankfurt. That's fine with me; I've got to rest up from my days in Prague and for my flight back home, which will stretch the middle four hours of April 17 into twelve hours.
Uhhhh... that's all I have so far. Not bad, eh?
