Bonus!

Since I decided to cut out Sweden, I found out that Benelux counts as one country on the rail system. So I can get a Youth Selectpass for about $100 less.

I still get the nagging feeling that I might pay a little less if I just bought individual tickets, but the railpass connotes freedom, since in theory I could get on a train going any random direction if I so desired.

Next year I can get the Scanrail Youthpass and do the Northern Europe thing.

I had a very hearty meal at the Five-and-Diner with my mom and aunt.

"hearty" as in "heart attack"... I'm wiped out from it.

I think I'll just defrost and stir-fry some shrimp tonight for dinner....

I would have bought squid instead but the Fry's does not carry it.

Thinking I'd have some time to research the German-Dutch side of my family history a little while abroad, I asked my grandmother for any information she had on where to look. She said the most relevant information she could find was about Jan Reinken, a fmous organist at St. Catherine's Cathedral in, I believe, Hamburg.

While in Lueneburg and Coethen, [J.S.] Bach made two or more journeys to Hamburg to confer with Reinken and to hear him play. At one of these visits Bach improvised for 2 hours on the chorale-melody An Wasserfluessen Babylon, whereupon Reinken made the oft-quoted remark: 'I thought that this art was dead, but I see that it will live on in you.

I am l33t. The blood of one of Bach's consultants runs through my veins.
