oooh. I woke up at about 2am with my right hand half-numb and half-pain. I found I couldn't move my fingers very much; they were in this weird claw.

Slowly, normal feeling and mobility returned, though my wrist is still a little sore now.

I sure hope it's because I slept wrong and not because something bad is developing in my wrist.

Because I'd sure like to finally write about the rest of my weekend.

Regarding Devi's post about fame and accomplishment...

I've mentioned Frankie Manning several times this week. And I think his story is remarkable not just because he was around in the 20's and still teaches dancing today, but because when he originally left the dancing troupe in the fifties, he also took 30 years off to work at the Post Office and raise a family. Which means he's spent more time on career hiatus than I've spent breathing.

So what's the rush?

I just talked to Jolan at STA Travel... I think I'll swing by their offices Friday morning or so, to get my Europe trip ironed out. I gave him my notes over the phone and it seems that getting there and getting around will cost me around $1000, between air fare and rail passes. I'll be using the time in-between to look for better fares online, and maybe join one of those courier air travel agencies...

But a quick search on Travelocity finds flights in the $400 range, particularly if I leave before March 21. That'll chop a few hundred bucks off, as long as there's no catch. These are big-time restricted non-refundable tickets, like I've always bought, but it's a longer stay and such I'm planning, and I've got to make reasonably sure I can afford, and find, lodging over the entire period.

Somehow it doesn't seem so difficult now.
