Aug. 8th, 2001 03:24 pmOutside is where you find the sane people, the good examples. So I'm venturing out there a second time.
The Spanish group that meets at Borders Books in Mesa is a small group of people who speak Spanish as a second language. A significant portion of them also attend the French and/or Italian groups. Perhaps after a few months of dilligent attendance, I'll be as fluent as they are, but I know there's no substitute for foreign travel. But it helps that in the months leading up to my glorious days of world travel, that I didn't learn languages in a vacuum.
I want my passport. Outside of America is where you find the really sane people, and a rare source of examples of what life would be like without all the baggage of Puritan ancestry.
