A week ago at the grocery store, I saw a bag that said "CHITLINS" in big letters, and elsewhere on the label it called them "CHITTERLINGS". It puzzled me that someone would spell it out at this point, considering I didn't even know it was a contraction.

But Google research indicates:

• chitlins: 5,240 pages
• chitterlings: 5,360 pages

Did you drop the bag, and run away screaming? That's what I would have done. I can't believe some of the crap people willingly put in their mouths. Yuck!
