Yeah, such words are pretty obscure. I'd subscribe to the theory that they have been unduly abscised from everyday talk, forming an obscene abscess that, frankly, is pretty hard to deal with.

All such "fun with /usr/dict/words" aside, it is a pretty cool word.

and in words like "obscene" they only really count as two syllables.
