Statements along the lines of "If you have nothing to hide, why worry?" or "Only the guilty need fear us" should be handy alarm triggers in any intelligent person's head.

Sometime I should compile a list of statements that immediately indicate that the person you are listening to is a thug, liar or ignoramus, or just hasn't thought the issue through. There are a lot of them.
