Turns out I'm good with children.

Also, it turns out all you need to be good with children, is to bring a game simple enough to teach them, and then to have the patience to get them playing until they know the rules.

That was enough for one little girl to give me a spirograph that says "god loves you" in the middle.

I've found that all it actually takes is to (1) not pester the children until they come to you, and (2) don't talk to them as if they're stupid. These two things will make most children consider you a cool guy.

The second one is crucial. Kids hate bullshit (and have no incentive to take it, unlike adults).
