May. 25th, 2005 07:19 pmMonday night, I was among the first to download Systm, the show that Kevin Rose is leaving G4 to produce.
This first show was a bit lightweight. It lasts ten minutes, and quickly describes how you can build a warspying device to pick up transmissions from people's wireless cameras -- a nifty one with an auto-scan button.
I rather liked the 3D animation of the IC diagrams; it made the hardware design seem both simpler than I expected, yet arcane enough to be a little cool. It's something nobody would dare to show on cable TV, not even following one of those shows where they teach you how to install a fountain in your backyard.
I can't say it's useful to me, but it is interesting.
Perhaps I'm naïve, but I'm counting on these home-brewed niche downloadable TV shows taking off. Of course, that also depends on bittorrent remaining legal.
