It seems a few of my friends at the same time are talking about chiropractors in some way.

I don't believe in them myself -- unless there's some serious problem with the human spine, it's usually best off left alone, or at least handled gently.

My parents took me and my brother to a chiropractor at a very very early age. Far too early for us both to have had problems. I still don't know how they got talked into it. But I do remember that when I was 12, my dad would take me to one that claimed they could cure my hyperactivity with some precision adjustments. They took X-rays and everything. They prescribed me this styrofoam pillow, but the dog chewed it up, so I remain hyperactive to this day.

Flash forward to December, 2003. I had a bunch of muscles go weird in my back about 18 months ago. The urgent care facility gave me muscle relaxants -- no manipulation required. To work out the knots, I spent $5 on the robot massage chairs at AZ Mills every so often. And my GP told me to stop relying so heavily on that shoulder bag I picked up in Japan, which was creating uneven tension. He also took the opportunity to prescribe me some Lexapro, which I stopped taking because it didn't do jack.

I wonder, if they'd recommended a chiropractor, whether I'd be swearing up and down that it's what cured me -- and whether I'd still be going, since I can find a little bit of back pain today if I look for it.

I don't know if I believe that chiropracty can cure hyperactivity; that sounds like some sort of wacky Holistic Alternative Medycyne that isn't scientifically grounded but instead relies on the power of happy thoughts and pixie dust and the Power to Believe.

But for relief of back pain? Yeah, why not? Makes sense.

Ditto. Hyperactivity is either a metabolic issue, or a mental one.

I initally went primarily because after I wiped out in the saturen, about a month later the back was still acting up.

Last night's "adjustment" just about toasted most of her work, though.

Not sure yet if I'm going back.

Been past a chiropractor's window lately?

Chiropractic IS Wacky Holistic Alternative Medyceyne anymore. They advertise spinal manipulation to cure allergies.

Food allergies, even.
