This afternoon, there seemed to be a kink in my back. So I went to the mall and got one of those aqua-massages. Felt a little better; shopped a little, bought some heavy milk and juice and walked home with it, no problem.

Then, tonight around 11:00, the back pain started to come back, with a bit of a vengeance. I figured I should just go to bed early....

then I wake up around 2:00 am, and the back feels much worse, and come to think of it, it seems to have spread to my front. It even hurts to move my arm certain ways, or to take deep breaths. I've taken three ibuprofen; they're not helping.

Now I'm looking for urgent care facilities on the Aetna website. I wonder if this is worth the emergency room...

Update: I called the nurse help line; the ibuprofen actually has toned things down a little by now, but the pain's still there. She said to wait another hour and see what happens. Actually, I seem to have forgotten whether she said to call the ER or take more IB at that point...

Sounds like the back spasms i got about a month ago. Hurt like a bitch. Naproxen and ibuprofen didn't do much, so i dipped into some of the Vicodin... that made a difference, in that i could sleep. It also caused the spasming to stop, so after that it was only a matter of the pain slowly healing. Took about a week to recover.
