My parents gave me a cookware set. They got a deal on some excellent anodized aluminum stuff with one of those super-tough nonstick finishes that will stand up to metal utensils. My dad has a similar set and he swears by it.
I've oiled them and heated them, now I'm waiting for them to cool so I can wash them.
My existing set has deteriorated quite a fair amount, and I think I can trace it to when I got a little lax on the care instructions. In the beginning, I'd always wash it by hand, I'd re-season them regularly, I'd refrain from using high heat... but in the end, I'd just throw them in the dishwasher, and I'd let food burn by leaving the heat on too high, and other such carelessness.
This set, however, deserves my respect. I'm going to see if I can make this stuff last.
