Does anyone have any experience with Second Life?
It seems along the same lines as "There" and "Sims Online", but it seems to have better technology.
It's been compared to Neal Stephenson's Metaverse, and I suspect the authors took a little inspiration: one of the last names you can choose is "Protagonist". Like ToonTown Online, you have to choose your name from a drop-down box, but only part of it. I've picked "Quentin Domino". Five golden JeffK points to anyone who can guess why.
Of course, I can't play it unless or until I upgrade to Windows 2000 or XP. I found that out only after I downloaded it.

Date: 2003-07-06 10:15 am (UTC)I actually had to go to a baby names site to look up names meaning "fifth". The only one that seemed close to the Greek root was the Spanish name "Ponce", but I didn't quite like the sound of it.
I suspect I'll get a lot of people who think I'm trying to invoke Quentin Tarantino, also.
