She doesn't do the book club anymore, because it's just too hard to find one a book a month that she can truly recommend.

He may as well jump in; everyone else [meaning assorted TV talk and "news" show hosts] is scrambling to fill the "void" left by Oprah, and they're probably not trying to be funny.

She doesn't do the bookclub anymore because the shelf in her bedroom ran out of space and they won't let her do that issue of Rolling Stone with Buffy in her bathroom.
