The article writer is a grade-a dinglebrained moron. I'd rather have security vulnerabillities brought out into the open for the responsible parties to fix then have them supressed and hope the bad guys just happen to miss the relevant details.
Security by obscurity works. Depending on the motivation and intelligence of the attacker. As the evidence shows, our attackers are highly motivated, but not that intelligent.
what tears me is that I can't SSH from work or any of our customers. Telnet is like a decade old, worn out T-shirt, security wise. SSH packets just don't get all the way out.
Waiting 10 minutes to connect to a session is not my favorite way of passing time.

My most rabid right-wing friend ever, he first contacted me over an offhand comment I made about "communist" computer systems with wide-open access to datasets, going so far as to send me a gift subscription to National Review to set me straight. Significantly, one of the first issues I received contained an editorial declaring Hitler to have been a force of the Left.
