May. 5th, 2002 09:28 pmMy digital camera sucks donkeys.
I left it hooked up to the PC, and forgot to turn it off, and it happily drained the batteries all day.
I also forgot to download my pictures off it.
It's not designed to be kind to the absent-minded.

What is the deal with these cameras and batteries?

Date: 2002-05-06 07:14 pm (UTC)No Windows 2000 or XP drivers. Windows 200 came out just after this thing did. You'd thing that they would have 200 drivers or XP drivers by now.
It shuts itself off after 2 minutes. The only exception is if you are pulling pictures from it.
The driver that allows you to pull pictures is a horrendus evil mess of software that tries to do it all in one huge bloated package.
I love my camcorder. It's got a built in still camera and the driver is completely modular. It turn the camera's MMC slot into a drive of sorts, in order for you to pull the pictures off to it.
You can put files onto it, too. This is a cool thing. Much better then my MP3 player, which forces you to use MusicMatch to push files down to it. It also does not use any known filesystem standard that MMC is supposed to use, so I just can't slap a MMC filled with MPs into it that I've done using a card reader or, say, the aformentioned camera.
But overall, I like my toys. The firewire rocks several varities of coolness. Apple has a good thing going. Hot swap, Hot plug, and 400 Mps. I Just wish that the cable didn't cost $5 a foot.
Still playing with the video thing to try and get the file size down. be patient. it's MY hobby, not my profession.
