castes and neurodiversity
Dec. 16th, 2020 09:25 amone ironic thing i just thought of, but don't have time to explore... Along the spectrum, there are people who tend to rely on structure in order to function. Castes, including gender and race, provide structure. When someone's tics result in the enforcement of the system, they're considered "normal" and even "upstanding". When tics are not useful, require unusual accommodation, are disruptive, those people are "weird"... and when tics contradict the caste system, look out.
so someone melting down that there aren't enough white people on TV is just having a serious debate, while someone melting down that they found an actual Captain Crunch square in their Oops All Berries is the object of mockery.
