I went to a meetup group in central Phoenix yesterday. Sometimes it's fun, but sometimes it's just people griping about politics.

I'm sick of learning more shit I can't change about the Bush administration, the health care system, and the Iraq war, and Islamic fascism. After about twenty minutes of the same exact bitching that failed to get Bush out of office in 2004, I just screamed, "Oh, let's all TALK about it! That'll make it better!"

What is the point?

This picture was taken July 18. The monitor is a 19-inch Magview CRT, so you know it can hold a heavy monitor. Note the little green button below the monitor. That's a little rotating drawer for pencils and post-it notes and a tape dispenser.

Not visible: the little bookshelf on the left hand side, which I can't get to because there's another table in the way.

I'm thinking of getting it replaced with one that just goes flat up against the wall where the picture of my family is right now. But I'd have to find this desk a home before I did that.

I paid $100 for it in 2001, so I can let it go cheap. So, any takers?

The Wii "Everyone Votes" channel had a poll, "How many US states have you visited?" You could vote "more than 10" or "less than 10". And when a poll is over, you can see how the vote turned out by state. In green states, "more than 10" won. In purple states, "less than 10" won.

I noticed that all the so-called "flyover states" in the middle were mostly green. The west coast states, the Mexican border states, and all the Gulf states were purple, as were New York and a chunk of New England.

I was surprised, considering the stereotype of the middle-American as ill-traveled, and the stereotype of the west coast American as cosmopolitan.
