kirkjerk provides me with another article about the dangers of packrattery, entitled Stuff, no connection with the George Carlin routine of the same name.

It makes me want to go through my closet and throw away another garbage bag full of stuff, and I thought I'd pass the meme onto the rest of you.

Up until recently, I thought the solution was to buy more storage.  Even today I was thinking of getting an EXPEDIT bookshelf for the living room, and THAT would help me clear off the kitchen counter of detritus once and for all.  Except nothing trumps the kitchen counter; it's conveniently located between the bedroom door and the front door, so everything goes there.

One thing that rings true: poor people have the most cluttered houses and apartments. Though that might be just because affluent people have a garage they can throw everything in. Still, one wonders if they'd still be poor if they didn't have all that unnecessary stuff.
