I went to the Lobster Festival.

$15 to get in. $18 for a lobster dinner, and $4 for a beer. And that's all after waiting in five lines: one for lobster dinner tickets, one for beer tickets, one for the beer, one for the lobster, and one for the guy that took the lobster apart for me. I wonder how much it would have cost at a real seafood restaurant with table service. But there were plenty of tables free, which is unusual for any of these outdoor-fests. And it was served with the best cole slaw I'd EVER had.

Cats

Nobody I know has outdoor cats anymore.

Why is it the fashion to have one's cat declawed so that one can spend the rest of its life making sure nobody leaves any doors open?

Somehow, our furniture survived our outdoor cat. He had trees to sharpen his claws on. And we didn't have to keep a litter box, either, because he did his business outside. And even though I was mildly allergic to him, it wasn't as bad as it could have been, because the house had half as much dander as it would have had otherwise.

The biggest annoyance was when he was indecisive about whether he wanted to be inside or out. Especially on those occasions when he discovered he could make scratchy sounds against my window. But he managed to achieve a good balance of indoor and outdoor time, as our family of four would leave and enter the house often enough.

And sometimes he killed a bird. While I was at school, he was HUNTING. How cool is that?
