As much as I'm averse to addiction, I think I may be an information addict.

There's no other possible reason I could be awake this late, as all I'm doing is messing around with my web browser and queueing up BitTorrents.

The Texas sage is in bloom. All around South Mountain, I've seen shrubs of all sizes covered in purple flowers. Apparently they're blooming nearly a month early. According to my allergy doctor, it's because of carbon dioxide pollution more than the wet summer.

I also noticed, walking up the Warner-Elliott loop, that the washes were overgrown with thick dark green grass.

South Mountain itself is still as brown as ever, but the brush hasn't burned off my part of it. And I must say, it looks so much more majestic from the Warner-Elliott loop than it does from Baseline Road. The southern peaks must be higher.

[livejournal.com profile] atillathehung was right. For real pasties -- or, at least, real good ones -- you've got to go to Cornish Pasty Company, on University and Hardy.

I went a bit non-traditional and had the Cajun pasty, but I could tell right away that this wasn't just some gimmick. It was a very carefully refined recipe, prepared fresh and masterfully. The chicken was moist, there was just the right touch of bacon flavor, and the cheese was just the right consistency. It's been a long time since I've had food that good.

I don't know if I'll ever go to the George and Dragon again. I gotta start exercising some standards.
