Aug. 4th, 2005 12:49 amI made a cube 5-compound in Second Life.
It's pretty easy. Pick a point in space, and put five cubes there. All five should have a Y-axis rotation of 31.7°. Each successive cube should have 72° more of X-axis rotation.
Why 31.7°? Because the MathWorld page says I had to rotate it around an axis at (1,φ,0), and the tangent of 31.7° is close to 1/φ. I can't explain why that makes sense, but it did the trick.
For extra aesthetic effect, make each cube a different color. But I find it rather difficult to come up with five different colors that look good.
Too bad its so late at night. I want to roll it down hills now.
