Jun. 21st, 2005 08:02 pmThe Bollywood FAQ answers the question, "Why don't they KISS already?" 'Cause in Hollywood movies, love interests kiss at the drop of a hat. In Bollywood, they practically never do.
In fact, a lot of American movies show people fucking within the first five minutes. American History X and Heat come to mind. Even PG-13 movies are getting in on the fucking, like Star Trek: Nemesis, and Matrix: Reloaded.
Are there people out there who actually like watching other people kiss? Or do we just expect it now, having been tricked into thinking people like it by that Saved By The Bell laugh track that went "WOOOOOO!" every time Kelly kissed Zack on the cheek.
On the other hand, I've never seen a Bollywood film, so I can't speak to the idea of a film where the director is actively avoiding the depiction of kissing. It might weird more than I expect.
