Bloody Diaper
Feb. 12th, 2005 08:21 pmFor about a month, Hung Dynasty's front page has featured a fake news story about a performance at Meat Loaf Town, as a spoof of Alice Cooper's Town, a restaurant bearing the dual themes of baseball and rock stars who wear black make-up. Shortly after they put up a page, they announced a gig there, which I attended last night.
Once there, I got served by a happy high-pitched uniformed waitress, with black triangles under her eyes, and I dubbed her PerkyGoth. It was only then that I realized that this restaurant has been spoofed before.
If you buy or rent the fourth season DVD of Mr. Show with Bob and David, episode 410 contains a scene titled "Marilyn Monster", in which David Cross plays the title character, Larry "Marilyn Monster" Turnhauer, who takes a brief intermission from his blood-soaked concert at the Cincinnati Octo-Dome to record a training video for new fun-ployees at his restaurant, Marilyn Mozzarella's Pizzarella Pie Parlour.
Except, according to the commentary, it's actually based on a Baker's Square training video, which was hosted by a member of the Addams Family cast. But at least the font they use to display the "16 P's of Success" is the same as that used on Cooper's menu, with the square M's and the O's that look like steering wheels.
Also featured in that episode: a hear-shaped box of "Be Mine Candies" stating "Warning: Candy is Not Really in Love With You".
