cell phone advice sought
Jun. 21st, 2004 09:40 pmOK, folks, here's your chance to sound off about cell phones, because I'm thinking of getting a new one, AND switching providers.
I want to use it at home in Phoenix, I want to use it on vacation in the United States. And, overseas, in Europe and Japan primarily, I want to be able to rent a SIM card so I don't have to mess around with pay phones.
I'm half-wondering if I should import a GSM phone from overseas, considering how often I've heard that the U.S. is in the dark ages when it comes to phones. On the other hand, the only extra I think I'd really need is a camera.
But, in an era where there are two wireless phone stores on every strip-mall, and a booth selling wireless service every ten feet at Arizona Mills, something tells me if I'm not careful, I'm going to let someone make a LOT of money off of me.
So, does anyone have any advice on what I should be looking for in service, and what kind of corporate scams I can avoid with a little attention?
