Sep. 22nd, 2002 04:15 pmIt turns out the obesity epidemic may be correlated to the decline of the mealtime. We no longer eat with our family at the table; we eat alone at our desks.
Of course, for a bachelor like me who lives alone and doesn't have visitors often, how can I be expected to have any structure in my eating?
One solution, I suppose, is for me to date more. That will motivate me to learn to cook meals more regularly, as opposed to a day's worth of grazing snacks, as seems to be my habit now. And late-night snacking would be discouraged if my mouth were otherwise occupied.
In lieu of that, though, perhaps I need to commune with friends a little more often.
azbeernight was a good start, but once a week is not enough for me, especially when so few show up anymore. There are other groups with which I used to have dinner regularly, though they all tend to happen at restaurants, where the meals are both heavy and cumulatively expensive.
Maybe I'll host a dinner party. Do people still do that?
