Well, I went to the doctor in Hamburg.

I sure had to wait a long time, but when I got in, the doctor was very nice. She didn't speak much English, but the nurse spoke a little more and we had no trouble communicating. I got a very powerful antibiotic, which I hope does the trick, and a follow-up appointment on Wednesday.

For lunch I had a Curry Wurst, and an orange juice, and a Berliner.

My voice is still running on fumes, but regardless I just had dinner with Myla, Nina, and Nina's parents. I started to pick up a few more German words from them. We had rice and vegetables. Europeans families seem to know the secret to making vegetables taste good. Whenever I have mixed vegetables in the USA, or in a restaurant, it's always bland and tedious to eat. But these were excellent.

In other news, I have lost my little telescope. I know I had it in the doctor's office, and I know I had it at the place I bought the curry wurst, but at some point afterwards it fell off the little necklace from which it was hanging. On the one hand, this is quite tragic since I've become quite dependent on it lately, and also because I'll have to pay for it when I get back. On the other hand, I was planning to buy one for myself anyway when I got back, and I might even find that they're quite inexpensive in Germany. And who knows, they might have found it at the pastry shop or the wurst shop or the Woolworths where I bought that tissue paper.

I tried to find some gloves and a new jacket, but shopping is hard enough for me when I'm well... maybe tomorrow I'll feel better enough to buy at least some gloves.

Hey, I just swallowed and there was almost no pain whatsoever! Neat! But I still can't talk.

For those wondering, Prague is off the table. I'm going to have to extend my stay in Hamburg a bit to make up for my illness. I'd hate to have the sum of my Hamburg experiences be to cough all over everything in Myla's house and then leave without helping Nina practice her English, or have them help me with my German. I would have to seriously compress Berlin and Frankfurt in order to make Prague work.

Tonight's assignment for me: book my Berlin hostel.
