CGExpo in Vegas
Aug. 13th, 2001 10:44 amIt's good to be back in Phoenix after a weekend in Vegas for the Classic Gaming Expo 2001. There's no weather-related rude awakening, and lowercase letters never looked so good. There are "Wheel of Fortune" slot machines everywhere, and every one of them plays this theme music every two minutes. It's this big-band "poor-people's-idea-of-Vegas-glamor" riff that's now drilled into my head.
I lost up to $90 gambling. That's $60 in blackjack, which lasted the longest despite playing at the $5 tables and not being good at blackjack. Also, $20 in roulette, and the remaining $10 or less was in the slot machines. Blackjack and roulette gave me a fighting chance, but the slot machines didn't pay off at all.
I was wondering whether I'd buy so much stuff I'd need more luggage to bring it all home, but my problem solved itself when I bought an Atari XE Game System, in the box (but not new), for $25. ( Read more... )
