I'm waiting on too many things right now. And I wonder if I'm going to get any of it.

I'm still waiting on a guidebook I want to borrow from someone across town, which I'd prefer to get soon so I can plan ahead. Also, another friend said I could have a spare trenchcoat, but it hasn't even been sent out yet and there's a limit to how many reminders I can drop. A book listing Esperantists I can contact overseas was air-mailed to me on March 6, but hasn't arrived yet. I'm also waiting on a money order from the woman who won my eBay purchase. Also, Rail Europe is fedexing my rail passes to my travel agent and if that goes smoothly, I should be able to pick it up Monday.

So there's a bunch of loose ends which I have no control over and have less than six days to settle.

But, well, suppose none of it gets here. I'm not relying on the mail for my guidebook, but if I somehow couldn't get that, I could buy one when I got to England. Of course, it's damn impossible to buy warm clothes in Phoenix in March, but I imagine it's quite easy to find adequate gear in England. I suppose I won't mind my trip being Esperanto-free if that particular book doesn't get here, but that will dent my budget, already dented by having to purchase a coat and book... If my eBay money doesn't arrive by Saturday I can send the buyer an e-mail and have her deal with my parents. And if my railpasses don't get here in time, well, I can kiss $500 goodbye.

I know, I know, plan ahead more... grrr.

I didn't meen to single you out. My point was that if I were more self-reliant and hadn't procrastinated, I wouldn't be anxious right now.

Though, that's probably not true; I'd find something else to be anxious about regardless.

I don't have any trenchcoat; if I get one it will be my only one.

Well, I dunno if I'm staying there... it's hard to suss where London hostels are on the websites I know about.

I'll give thrift stores a try; are there any in London?

I know where I'm staying in Paris: Auberge Cité des Sciences, which looks pretty close to Gare du Nord, which is where I'll be arriving, according to the maps I've been able to find. What I haven't been able to find is how to get there on the Metro...

Is there a Paris improper? Like, if I stay in Cite des Sciences, will I find that to be like in the sticks?
