Well, I just went to the crime prevention meeting that my apartment complex was holding. I found out what a dismal neighborhood I really live in; only four or five other residents showed up, not counting the off-duty sheriff's deputy who was giving the talk. One of them was a former Scottsdale police officer, who had been robbed twice in the six months he's lived here, and who pointed out all kinds of inadequacies in the apartment complex's security. For example, this is the only apartment complex for miles east or west that isn't gated.

I suppose this cements my decision to move to the complex next door. The gated complex.

Well, if I lived anywhere else, I'd have to take a bus to my job every day.... being able to walk isn't a luxury I'm willing to give up easily....

The point is that this apartment complex is the big joke of the Phoenix Police Department.
