Over the years, I attended the premiere of at least three episodes of Star Trek Continues at Phoenix Comicon and whatever it'd been renamed to. I got fully emotionally invested in it as some shining example of what fandom can do, sang its praises to all who would listen. hey maybe can burn them to DVDs and send them to my grandparents? Since I don't into anime, I didn't have any lead time on the recent revelations that the project's mastermind Vic Mignogna is a fucking predator. So it's been a bit of a trap door opening underneath any enjoyment i had once, a common occurrence these last few years.

This last few years has just been me mourning all the enthusiasm I used to have for not just ST:C, but Louis CK, Chris Hardwick, the IT Crowd, South Park, and most of the atheist icons out there. it's like anything I like there's a 1/3 of a chance that its creators are rapists and/or nazis to some extent. I feel a little safe about the various Star Trek series from the 1990s only because after 20 years it looks like Rick Berman was the only big asshole, and everyone else was fine and put out a good show despite his employee abuse. But, damn, if I wake up tomorrow and find out that Michael Schur ran a dogfighting ring and I can't enjoy the rest of The Good Place, that'll hurt a lot.

I even spent some time in denial, thinking these were some kind of alt-right smear campaigns, but that was basically only true with James Gunn and a few other "omg tweets from 10 years ago" ginned-up scandals, wasn't it? Went through some bargaining too: Maybe Hardwick's problem was just one bad relationship and not a pattern? what other stages of grief do I have to go through now...

Ignoring the revelations aren't really an option... part of the reason fans have to go through this is because people have let things slide for too long...
