I can't concentrate.

There's constant chattering going on in my cubicle area. I've got a project with confusing requirements. My remaining neighbors seem to be just as insane as the one I just got rid of, since it seems my apartment complex only grants leases to the poor and insane anymore. I'm starting to have doubts about my Europe trip. Last night's salsa lesson went very badly for me.

My ability to travel on the cheap is based largely on my ability not to be bothered by noise. Now that noise bothers me, I don't know...

How do I tell how thick an apartment's wall is? I'm almost certain I'll be moving to the nicer complex next door once my lease runs out.

My old apartment had brick walls, and thick cement between floors. I heard really loud music and kitchen cupboards through them a handful of times, and Thomas Road could have been drowning them out, and you could hear people yakking on the porch from the living room. But, I never heard voices, moderate music, other people's televisions, or footsteps.

But then again, until the Saga of Drunk Guy, I hardly cared even when I did hear things. I didn't even care about Drunk Guy until I concluded he was a psycho.

I know for me the type of noise can make a difference.

Possibly you're very attuned to banging around in nearby apartments now, since you associated those sounds with potential danger from the experiences with crazy drunk neighbor.

I usually find that plugging in headphones and listening to music helps.
