Why do people put sex in their interests list?

It brings to mind things like "I've been looking everywhere for someone else who's interested in sex! Let's exchange some correspondence so that we may discuss it."

Two of my friends have it listed. They're both women. What, you guys don't like the sex? No wonder you don't meet many women.

• guys should have it on our interests page because we like sex too, or
• people in general shouldn't because it's not really useful information.

Er, unless having "sex" in your profile means I can just e-mail you out of the blue and say "Hey, I'll be in the area this weekend, do you want to get together and try this 'sex' thing you have listed as an interest?" But I think it's a safer bet that one must still exercise the same protocols as one would with someone who doesn't list sex.

An all kindsa guys have 'sex' listed as an interest. Just click on 'sex' and find out.

I had both 'sex' and 'bisexuality' listed once, too *grin* I dropped it because of the same thing as with 'music' - it's too generic, when you click on it to find out who else's interested in it, you get several K of people. Much better to put something specific, like 'japanese rope bondage' or 'Norwegian folk music'.
But I still like sex and am bisexual! *winks at subbes

But I do! I just prefer my interest be listed as "boinking". Which it's not. But I do have "pudding" and "simpsons" listed as interests, which are both metaphors by fellow lj'ers popz and mezdeathhead respectively for sex.
