OK, I'll have to start the exercise back up too. It'll be tougher than it was in the winter. Indeed, the best time to run will be in the mornings, and that requires me to get out of bed at an hour I'm not usually used to. The endorphins will do their job and I'll feel good again. Maybe I'll make it all the way to the end of the program again. And it'll make all the other stuff I'm doing work better, too.

Because the main thing that's bothering me now isn't so much that I'm down on myself, but I'm down on everyone else. I don't really have a lot of faith in humanity, both as a whole and on the individual level. My circle of trust is very small. Maybe it's my distrust that's making me seem off-putting to new people.

making new people's responses to you seem put-off even when they're not, probably. The whole thing's kind of a self-amplifying cycle.

I'm very lucky I'm arrogant enough to not have my lack of faith in humanity bother me all that much.

Also, running in the morning is good. Do it before you eat breakfast, but have a tall cup of unsweetened green tea before you go out. The mild caffeine will boost your metabolism without getting you too jacked up and the lack of food in your system means that the body will use fat reserves instead of digested glucose to fuel the exercise.

If you find you can't get up in time to do your running when it's cool, try to find an indoor venue of some sort--either an actual gym, or just a mall or something with lots of indoor.
Or, run in the evenings when it's started to cool down a bit.

Run on a treadmill. This way you can run indoors, at any time of the day or night, where it is nice and cool. Either get a gym membership or buy a treadmill. The nice thing about the fancier treadmills is they keep track of how fast you are going, your mileage, stats, etc.
