You know all those ballot initiatives where they put in the state constitution that they're not allowed to raise taxes, or create new taxes?

Well, when you take those options away from the state, they have to look to other ways to raise revenue, such as speed cameras, which are a kind of "surprise tax".

This is the first time that none of the ballot propositions seem to be in our interest. They seem designed to benefit payday loan store operators, attorneys, businesses that employ illegal immigrants, and social conservatives.

Nothing about protecting the desert, improving infrastructure, or bettering education. Sad.
