Superhero TV
Jul. 23rd, 2008 08:59 pmWhile waiting for Heroes to start back up, after an all-too-short first season, why not look up these other fine everyman-superhero TV series of days gone by?
"The Greatest American Hero": A special ed teacher with curly blond hair gets a superhero suit from aliens. The theme song plays without lyrics in the pilot, so you can sing George's answering message. And he screams every time he flies.
"My Secret Identity": Jerry O'Connell spends a season or two as an adolescent whose scientist mentor accidentally gives him superpowers, but not in suit form. He just walks around with invulnerability, super speed, and the ability to fly. And a scientist mentor, as sort of a Doc Brown sort of relationship.
"Back to the Future": Neither a TV series nor superhero movie, but I just remembered it, and it's always a good time for three great movies.
"Lois and Clark": Clark Kent's the real guy. Superman is the alter ego. And that's the kind of paradigm that makes Dean Cain my favorite incarnation of Superman.

As for the "Back to the Future" franchise... the first is my favorite, followed by the third, but the second one is just plain horrible.
But as long as you're talking about super hero TV, do you remember "The Phoenix"?
