New Orleans bonus track

I think I forgot to mention what happened during my last day in New Orleans. The last day tends not to go to waste.
After having my peanut butter burger at Yo Mama's, and getting lost in the less-rebuilt parts of the French Quarter, I found myself back downtown.
I noticed outside the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company that there were these chalk drawings, seemingly random. I saw a triangle and some dots and remarked that it looked like Asteroids, and one of the waiters was standing outside and said that it was. He had also drawn scenes from the Atari 2600 games Combat and Boxing. He said that one day, he would draw the entire World 1-1 from Super Mario Bros down the sidewalk there.
I really should have given him my contact information so that he could send me the photos when he did it. Now I'll just have to count on them being posted to Digg or making the rounds.

Glad you had good adventures!

Date: 2007-10-14 04:45 pm (UTC)The thing about classic arcade games is that people are nostalgic about them, but once you actually start putting quarters in them, it gets old again quickly, unless you're with like-minded friends to compete against, or still have the kind of internal motivation that drives you to beat your own personal records.

I'm guessing you might have waundered out of the Quarter to some place that was Not the Quarter. Do you recall crossing any multi-lane streets?

Date: 2007-10-17 03:09 am (UTC)If you crossed a 4 lane street, it would have been the 2nd one and you were in Faubourg Treme.
