I've believed for a while now, that people don't necessarily make their own luck, but rather that luck is an abundant resource that just needs to be recognized and captured. If you don't know what to do with your luck, it'll get away from you. Ask anyone who won the lottery, only to end up bankrupt a year later.
I've had a passing interest in the Esperanto language, which has a scant million speakers worldwide, and naturally isn't very popular in the United States. So what are the odds that an Esperanto club meets just a mile away from my apartment? JUST ONE MILE! Well, it turns out there is one.
Now, if I'd started attending regularly when I'd first learned of it, I'd probably be fluent by now, or would at least have made more friends. But instead, I attended once, got nervous, and never came back.
Well, no more letting this particular thing slide. I'm going back. If there's a better reason for me not to go, if maybe it's no fun or whatever, then I'll record that here. But if it is fun or rewarding in any way, I'll keep going.
