I have read the book. It's fifty years old, so I'm not overly concerned about spoilers, especially given this context. Legolas does not die in the book.
Either you have posted a spoiler or you have not. If you have, then good manners demands that you take it down or at least hide it. If you have not, then good manners demands that you make it clear that it is, in fact, not one.
