I bought these Monty Python tapes at the store.

VHS tapes are called "tapes" but all these new digital media are called by initials. DVDs, CDs, etc. I hope it comes into fashion to call them "disks"; I'm starting to feel a sense of embarassment whenever most of the syllables I speak are letters of the alphabet.

I bought it despite my friend Jeremy having the entire run of Monty Python's Flying Circus on DVD. Somehow, I just don't see myself with a DVD player, even now when I can get it as a free feature of a modern game console. Probably because I also don't see myself with a modern game console, either.

Probably because I can't see my life improving $300 worth on account of buying a $300 device. That's not what's missing from my life at this point.

I wonder if that could be an indicator, that when I feel comfortable buying a Playstation 2, it indicates that I'm satisfied enough with the rest of my life that I feel that my money is best spent on video games.

Or that they've gotten cheap enough.

Anyway, I've already watched the first two tapes, of the three-tape set. That's about two hours of Monty Python in one night. And I can't wait to watch the third, and even buy the rest of the series.

I wonder what Monty Python is giving me that video games don't anymore.
