OK.... last night, what was I rambling about?

Well, since I'm pretty sure none of you will find it interesting enough to vector to the people for whom it might be a surprise...

I'm trying to port the Fairlight intro to the Commodore 64. I've already gotten a scrolltext going, in a style that probably hasn't been seen before on the VCS. I've also ported a recognizable facsimile of the Fairlight theme (Druid 2: Enlightenment. Listen in MIDI format, most browsers can handle it.)

I have about 128 scanlines and about 1 kilobyte left in which I can put a logo, stationary text, or some quasi-impressive effect. But if I want to show anyone at Classic Gaming Expo '02, I have less than two weeks in which to complete it. I'd prefer to make it look at much like the C64 original as possible, but I can't seem to find a game with the intro on it in these modern archives.

Also, nobody from Fairlight has returned my e-mail. I'd prefer to have their permission, since apparently they still, like, exist, and stuff. Hence the links. And to show you how screwed-up American trademark culture is, I'm seriously considering just changing the name on the logo to "Farbright", figuring it'll be OK then. I find it rather hard to imagine the feelings of any possible Fairlight members either way, but I do know I'll be better off asking. So I'll fire off another e-mail today.

And since it is an intro screen, what game am I cracking? Why, Combat, of course. It's 2K, so I have 2K left for the intro without bankswitching. Since I have, and understand, the disassembled code,, I suppose if I had more time I would put a trainer on it.
