Weekend in review
Nov. 23rd, 2008 11:05 pmI know you've been on the edge of your seat.
Friday night: I saw Doug Stanhope perform at The Sets. It's always an adventure, and tonight was no exception. The emcee was reasonably funny, and the audience was on his side. The opening act bombed big-time and put the audience into full-on heckle mode. Behind me was a bootlegger with a cell phone video camera, which might not have been so bad if he'd been discreet, but he was all but announcing his presence, and his intention to post it to YouTube, and also talking to his girlfriend. And there was one of those loud drink girls nearby, too. Both of them caused multiple interruptions. There were cool people there too, and I talked to some of them before the show, and swapped stories of downloading comedy. I think I was the only sober one there, though.
One of the first things Stanhope said was that there was an albino in the front row, and that somehow I must be upset about the Obama victory. I didn't get it and couldn't really respond. He promptly forgot about me once everyone else started distracting him, and he managed a decent set regardless.
Saturday: Birthday dinner with the family. My brother gave me a Wii game, and my parents gave me that window box full of dirt that will someday be cilantro. They dropped me off at the mall, where I bought a retail copy of World of Warcraft.
Sunday: Hired
tamtrible for chauffeur duty, and spent my Linens'N'Things gift card on a roasting pan, and a stock pot that's big enough that it won't boil over when I make pasta. Big savings! I also went to Radio Shack for a USB headset.
The holiday week is going to be even better.
