Phone economics

So, here are some iPhone facts.

• the cheapest service plan for the iPhone is $60/month.
• The cancellation fee is $175.
• The minimum contract length is two years.

So, if you don't like your iPhone in thre months, canceling might be a bargain.

Also, when I tried to weasel out of my T-Mobile contract a few years ago, they suggested I sell my phone to someone else and have them take over the contract. Now, if AT&T lets you do the same thing, and Apple lets you sell your iPhone to someone else, then nobody should ever have to pay that $175.

On the other hand, AT&T is the most evil communications company working in the US. And keep in mind, that means it's more evil than Verizon. Working Assets is trying to arrange a boycott of the iPhone, for that very reason, but they're pissing in the wind. Steve Jobs' reality distortion field is impenetrable.

iPhone line at AZ Mills

I went to Arizona Mills to practice with my magic driving glasses, and noticed the Cingular store was locked, with a security guard outside. Then I saw another. Was there a robbery?

Then I noticed a taped-off area. Then another. Then a guy in a blue shirt talking across the tape. Then another one of those. Oh yeah, it's iPhone day.

It reminds me of when Star Wars Episode 1 came out.

And the line is moving.

I lost my TiVo remote again, so I went digging in the couch.

I dug further than ever before, it seems, because I found two things that have been in there a long time.

First, I found an old check for $40 I wrote to my parents in September 1999. This was less than a month after I bought the couch, used.

Second, I found a little plastic ring with some red lettering on it. I figured it might be a part of the couch, so I got a magnifier and read it. It says "Remove after catheter is applied."

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!
