I got to watch a taping of the Last Comic Standing auditions.

TWENTY-SIX COMICS doing three minutes each. Some of them sucked. Most of them were funny-but-who-cares. But some of them kicked ass, and in my opinion, the judges picked the right ones to move on, for the most part.

I didn't recognize anyone on stage except the two comics I'd seen in previous seasons.

And after that, I got to watch Ralphie May perform. Man, that guy has matured as a comic like you wouldn't believe. He's just as intense, and he's just as real. And I could tell he's spent a lot of time not just in Phoenix, but in my neighborhood -- he mentioned Guadalupe, the "seven blocks south of Baseline where you can't drink the water," and going to the Waffle House on I-10 for a Mullet Hunt. And he promptly cussed us out for complaining about the lack of rain.

There was a lot of TV production weirdness, where they had to pause to load new tapes into the cameras, while keeping the pace up the best they could. I can't wait to see how it turned out. Remember to watch for me in the audience. I'd be slightly embarrassed if they got a shot of me taking notes on the back of my voting ballot so I could remember which of the 26 names were attached to which acts.

Finally, Homestar Runner has a proper video podcast.

Rather, it's just reruns of old Strong Bad emails in Quicktime format. I'd much rather see an RSS feed of new Flash content on their real page. That way I can check for Monday afternoon additions without going all the way to the main page.
