My computer seems to be slowing down.  My TV capture software loses sync with the audio and video, and some emulators no longer run full-speed.  This wasn't a problem a month ago -- in fact, this wasn't a problem even before I upgraded my processor.

Ad-Aware comes up clean.  What else could it be?

I was watching the movie Serenity with saturnvii a few weeks ago, and think I know why everyone likes that captain.

It's misleading to say his hook is that he looks out for himself, that he's amoral, that he's a profiteer, or whatever.  It misses the point of his character, which is this:

at key moments in the film, he does exactly the opposite of what the heroic Star Trek captains would have done.

Doing so allows/forces the writer to avoid many space opera cliches and conventions.
