I'm hearing bits of news trickle in about how the refugees in the Astrodome are practically under lockdown, and may not be even allowed to leave for five months.

But in Arizona, we have a state fair next month, and the refugees are camped out in a stadium in the middle of our fairgrounds. So our governor wants the refugees in new homes by opening day. Think they can do it?

Of course, we're only hosting some 500 people according to the article. Things are easier when you're not overwhelmed. The article also mentions other venues if they can't get out in time, and that the situation can change if we get "a huge number of unanticipated evacuees".

As I gather it, a large portion of Lily Tomlin's career as a comedienne seems to have revolved around the telephone company.

Once, I heard a clip of her talking about how you could get back at them, back in the days where they'd send you delicate punched cards to mail back. She detailed a process of soaking and drying them such that the card would appear to humans as it did before, but the holes were slightly bigger.

I wonder if she's ever read 2600 Magazine, or Phrack. I wonder if she knows they exist.
