Today at about 8:00am, I heard shouting from outside my apartment. Some old lady with a hoarse, commanding, lunchlady-type voice was trying to command someone to come back into the house. I was hoping it wasn't a child.

It turns out it was a dog named Shadow. She kept yelling, and I heard some fainter yelling from some other neighbor, and she yelled back that she was trying... certainly, her approach couldn't have seemed all that inviting to the dog.

...after a minute or two of that, the dog bit her, resulting in a string of quiet cursing. Apparently she was immobilized, because someone had to carry her back into the apartment.

Corporate sockpoppets are nothing new, I suppose; the article on Mavis Beacon (which was published in 1995 no less) mentions Betty Crocker as precedent.

On the other hand, Chef Boyardee was real. And his name will live on forever in cans of cheap microwaveable pasta.

I was looking at the merchandise page at Diesel Sweeties and I noticed a messenger bag that looks like the right size bag for me to carry stuff around in. Usually I carry around a big bulky backpack with nine zippers that's way too big for what I carry around, and it's about time I replaced it.

Of course, I don't quite think I want one with a big pixellated skull; it might provoke airport security to flex a little. I've shopped around for bags before, but I haven't found anything this practical just yet. So, where can I find another bag of this type?
